Ever feel like no one in the world understands what you’re going through? Does life’s up’s and down’s often discourage you from everything you are trying to accomplish? I’ve been there myself. It’s not a great place to be. The truth of the matter is, many of us find ourselves in this place from time to time, and it’s okay. It is okay to visit these moments of self-doubt, anxiety, and maybe even fear, but it is NOT okay to stay there. At some point, we must crash the self-pity party, put on the big girl panties (ladies), pull up the boot straps (guys) and MOVE FORWARD.
When the hustle and bustle of life become too much, go to a quiet place and just breathe. It could be your bedroom, your prayer closet, your back yard, or maybe even your bathroom. Find a quiet place to relax and hear yourself think. Playing soft sounds of waterfalls, or ocean waves can help you to escape. Allow yourself some time to tap into your spiritual place and hear God speak. Meditate on everything that is going right. Take a moment to be thankful for the things you have, the people who love you, and the opportunities you have been afforded. When we take some quiet time to ourselves, we begin to realize that things aren’t always as bad as they may seem.
Negative people and situations can affect your confidence and your work ethic. Surround yourself with inspirational music. Log off of Facebook and open your bible, or a good motivational read. Develop relationships with people who will speak life into you at your lowest points.
Sometimes it’s best just to get it all out on paper. Writing is therapeutic. If you are stuck on a project, step away from it for a while. Pull out your journal and begin to write. Write about whatever comes to mind. Empty your mind completely before beginning your project again.
These are just a few ways to motivate yourself when you’re feeling discouraged or overwhelmed. Motivation and inspiration come from within. Develop habits to motivate yourself to become the best YOU you can be!
